This remarkable achievement set a new benchmark for athletic excellence in the state.

The swimming competition spanned two days and featured 22 different events, including the Individual Medley, Butterfly stroke, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle, Medley Relay, and Freestyle Relay across various categories: men, women, and mixed relay. East Khasi Hills’ dominance in the pool was evident as they swept the medal tally, leaving a lasting impression on the event.

The medal ceremony was graced by B.M. Syiem, Chief Engineer of the State Sports Council of Meghalaya, as the chief guest, with Vivek Syiem, IPS, Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Khasi Hills, as the guest of honor.

The ceremony also saw the presence of Ian A. Lyngdoh, President of the Meghalaya Swimming Association, and B.K. Lyngwa, Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, among other distinguished dignitaries.

While East Khasi Hills led the day with a dominant performance, other districts also made their mark. South West Khasi Hills registered their only gold in the Individual Medley-200m Men event, finishing day two with a total of 10 medals.

East Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills secured golds in the Breaststroke 50m Men and Butterfly Stroke 50m Women events, respectively, preventing East Khasi Hills from completing a clean sweep of gold medals. However, East Khasi Hills had already claimed an impressive 11 gold medals on day one, further solidifying their dominance in the competition.
