Meghalaya Election Official Dies in Road Mishap
Guwahati: A polling official was killed in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday morning in Meghalaya.
According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Chesan Marak who was reportedly travelling to Photamati with other polling officials when they met with an accident near Tikrikilla in the West Garo Hills.
Marak worked as a technical assistant for MGNREGA in the Gambegre Block and was a resident of Tura. He was assigned as the poll worker at the Jangrapara Polling Station.
According to reports, the driver of the car lost control and the vehicle capsized on the side of the road.
Following the incident, the driver fled from the scene.
They were taken immediately to a nearby hospital but Chesan needed advanced care because of his serious injuries, so he was sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Unfortunately, during the wee hours of today Chesan succumbed to his injuries.
