Meghalaya Establishes State Organic Certification Body
Northeast Desk, 21st September: The Meghalaya government has launched its own Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) certified agency, announced Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on September 21.
The newly formed *Meghalaya State Organic Certification Body, operating under the Planning Department, is certified under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). It is the second entity of its kind in the Northeast, following Sikkim’s State Organic Certification Agency.
In a post on X, CM Sangma emphasized that this new agency will streamline organic certification for local farmers, reducing reliance on agencies located in Western and Southern India.
