Meghalaya: Factories Shut Down By FKJGP at MIDC Umam

Guwahati: As many as five factories were shut down by members of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) for operating without having received any official papers from the relevant authorities or the state government.

After a startling check of the local manufacturers by the FKJGP leaders and members it was discovered that the factory owners had been operating their operations without a valid trading licence from the appropriate authorities.

The Federation also criticised the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Umam in Ri Bhoi District and the EM in charge of commerce for failing to monitor the illicit establishments of enterprises and factories there.

The Chief of the Jaitia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) Thombor Shiwat on April 24 claimed that the Karbi Anglong DC’s allegation that Khanduli falls under Assam’s authority is quite provocative.

According to papers kept by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAAC), West Karbi Anglong DC Krishna Baruah asserted last week that Khanduli village is a part of Assam.
