Shillong: Meghalaya today officially kicked off its preparations for the 134th edition of the iconic Durand Cup, with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma unveiling the coveted trophies and flagging off the tournament’s Trophy Convoy. The ceremonial event, held in Shillong, marks the beginning of the highly anticipated football spectacle that holds a special place in the hearts of North Eastern football enthusiasts.
Chief Minister Sangma extended his sincere appreciation to the Indian Army for their tireless efforts in consistently organising the historic tournament. “My heartfelt congratulations to @adgpi for their unwavering commitment to organising the Durand Cup year after year, preserving the legacy of one of India’s oldest and most prestigious football tournaments,” Sangma stated, acknowledging the enduring heritage of the competition.
