Meghalaya Government Allocates Rs 90 Crore for NH-6 Development
Shillong: The Meghalaya government is set to issue a tender for the development of National Highway-6 (NH-6), allocating Rs 90 crore for the project.
The funds will be utilized for constructing new bridges, retaining walls, and other essential work. This development comes after the highway was partially closed for critical infrastructure maintenance.
According to Santa Mary Shylla, MLA of Sutnga Saipung Assembly Constituency, the repair work on the highway is expected to be completed by March 2025.
The concerned authorities have made significant progress, with construction reaching the Sonapur area and moving towards Malidor.
To facilitate the construction works, renovation, and repair of NH-6, the District Disaster Management Authority has issued a public advisory detailing strict restrictions on road access.
Vehicles will be prohibited from using the highway stretch between 9 am and 3 pm to ensure comprehensive road closure.
