Meghalaya Government Charts Roadmap for Vision 2032 During Cabinet Retreat
Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, along with senior government officials, held a two-day Cabinet retreat at Sohra, concluding on January 11, where they focused on addressing challenges and formulating strategies for the state’s development. This retreat, the first of its kind, was structured into various thematic sessions to promote discussions across different departments.
During the sessions, the state’s officials and departments interacted with the Chief Minister and other senior officials, collaboratively laying out a roadmap for the state’s future growth under the Vision 2032 framework. The overarching goal is to position Meghalaya among the Top 10 states in India in terms of development. Special emphasis was placed on enhancing the social and infrastructure sectors, particularly in education and health, which are key areas of focus for the government.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of setting key performance indicators to guide the development efforts. He urged all departments to work in close coordination and foster collaboration to achieve the set milestones for the state’s progress.
“This first-of-its-kind initiative saw the coming together of the government machinery to ideate and strategize ways to improve efficiency, ensure coordination & proactiveness in all levels of governance towards Vision 2032,” the Chief Minister’s Office shared on X, outlining the importance of this retreat in shaping the future of Meghalaya.
In the discussions, Sangma also encouraged the Deputy Commissioners to implement similar initiatives within their districts to foster local-level planning and execution. He further urged officials to set clear goals with defined timeframes and recommended that Cabinet ministers and officials conduct field visits to gain a deeper understanding of the issues and needs of the people.
This Cabinet retreat is seen as a significant step toward a more coordinated and proactive approach to governance in Meghalaya, aligning efforts across the state for the realization of Vision 2032.
