Meghalaya Government Delists Factory for Non-Compliance

Shillong: The Meghalaya government has removed M/s Gill Fuel Injection from its registry of factories, citing that the unit no longer meets the definition of a “factory” under the Factories Act, 1948.

The factory, located at Upper Nongrim Hills in Shillong, was found to be non-compliant with Section 2(m)(i) of the Act and the Meghalaya Factories Rules, 1980.

The Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories has confirmed the delisting, which means the unit is no longer subject to factory regulations or oversight.

In a separate initiative, the State Disaster Management Authority has launched a 24/7 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) to improve emergency response in the state. Citizens can now dial 112 or 1070 to request assistance during disaster-related incidents across Meghalaya.

The ERSS aims to provide prompt support and response to emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens. The new system is a significant step towards enhancing disaster management in the state.
