Meghalaya Government Injects ₹2 Crore into Non-Profit Hospitals to Fortify Grassroots Healthcare
Shillong: In a significant move to enhance healthcare infrastructure at the local level, the Meghalaya government has allocated ₹2 crore in financial assistance to non-profit hospitals throughout the state under its ambitious Health Advancement Policy.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening medical services and ensuring quality care reaches every corner of Meghalaya.
The rollout of this crucial policy commenced with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma personally handing over a cheque of ₹1 crore to Holy Cross Hospital in Tura on Sunday. This marks the first installment of the committed support, recognizing the hospital’s consistent dedication to serving the healthcare needs of the community in the Garo Hills region.
Highlighting the importance of these institutions, Chief Minister Sangma conveyed his sentiments through a social media post, stating, “Through the Meghalaya Health Advancement Policy, ₹2 Cr is being given as financial aid to Non-Profit Hospitals in Meghalaya.” He further acknowledged the vital role played by Holy Cross Hospital, Tura, adding, “Today, I’m happy to acknowledge the commendable contributions of Holy Cross Hospital, Tura by handing over a cheque amounting to ₹1 Crore as 1st installment to help them continue their quality healthcare service to the community. Such hospitals are a backbone to our society and this gesture is our way of giving back to them for all their efforts.”
This financial boost is expected to significantly empower non-profit hospitals like Holy Cross Hospital, enabling them to further enhance their facilities, upgrade equipment, and expand the scope of medical services they offer to the people of Meghalaya. The Health Advancement Policy signals a strong push towards a more robust and accessible healthcare ecosystem across the state.
