Meghalaya Government Mandates Fire Safety Clearance for Shillong Hotels, Resorts, and Businesses

Shillong: In a bid to bolster public safety, the Meghalaya government has issued a new directive requiring all hotels, lodges, homestays, resorts, and business establishments in Shillong and nearby areas to secure mandatory fire safety clearance. The move is aimed at reducing fire-related risks in the state’s bustling capital.

Issued by CVD Diengdoh, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, the directive falls under the provisions of the Meghalaya Fire & Emergency Service Act, 2012. The order mandates these establishments to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Service Organization.

The government’s decision is part of its broader efforts to enhance fire safety standards in the commercial and hospitality sectors, ensuring that all necessary precautions are in place to prevent fire-related incidents.
