Meghalaya Government Signs MoU with PepsiCo for Bottling Unit

Northeast Desk, 15th March: The Meghalaya government has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PepsiCo, allowing the multinational corporation to establish a bottling unit in North Garo Hills.

This strategic move aims to bolster the local economy and create employment opportunities in the region.

Meghalaya CM expressed his delight over the development, emphasizing the state’s commitment to promoting itself as an investment destination. He highlighted various policies and interventions, including the Meghalaya Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, aimed at facilitating ease of doing business.

 The MoU with Varun Beverages (PepsiCo) marks a significant step towards realizing Meghalaya’s vision of a robust economy and driving the state to the next level of growth.

Meghalaya’s Chief Minister has launched a new sports scholarship scheme aimed at nurturing local talents and providing financial assistance to promising athletes.

Through the Meghalaya Sports Scholarship Scheme, athletes will receive monthly financial aid ranging from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 8000, depending on their performance in various tournaments and categories.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to promoting sports and fitness in the state, fostering a culture of excellence in athletics, and providing athletes with better training and resources to excel in their respective fields.
