Meghalaya Governor Felicitates Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School for Subroto Cup Victory
Northeast Desk, 3rd September: Meghalaya Governor C H Vijayashankar felicitated the Nongjri Presbyterian Secondary School’s U-15 boys’ football team for their remarkable victory in the Subroto International Tournament held in Bengaluru. The felicitation ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan, with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also in attendance.
Governor Vijayashankar praised the young champions, noting the significance of their achievement at such a formative age. “To win this prestigious tournament is not something to be taken lightly. I believe that the best time for learning for any child is between the age of 6 and 16. With this in mind, it is indeed inspiring to see excellence at this age,” he remarked during his address to the team representing Meghalaya.
He also acknowledged the state government’s efforts in supporting the team, underscoring the importance of such encouragement in nurturing young talent.
Chief Minister Sangma expressed his appreciation for the governor’s gesture, describing the event as “a touching and emotional moment.” He highlighted the government’s substantial investments in sports infrastructure over the past few years, emphasizing its commitment to fostering athletic excellence in the state.
