Meghalaya Govt releases Rs 53 crore for ASHA workers

Guwahati: The Meghalaya government has set aside Rs 53 crore to compensate ASHA personnel in the state in the financial year 2021-2022.

According to an official release, all backlogs due until March 2021 have been cleared as a result of this.

According to official sources, this is the most amount ever released under the National Health Mission in one go (NHM).

“Due to a lack of money in 2018-2019, NHM Meghalaya was unable to make regular payments to ASHA employees,” according to an official statement.

According to the statement, the state government has approved funding under the Meghalaya ASHA Benefit Scheme (MABS) to remove backlogs until March 2021.

“The sanction letter has been forwarded to all district deputy commissioners, with copies provided to the district medical and health officers for their information and appropriate action,” the statement stated.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya government, with the assistance of NHM has launched a smartphone application to make payments to ASHA workers easier.

“The application has been developed to ease the payment process and ensure timely disbursement of the same,” it added.
