Meghalaya: Grave Demands for Justice as Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case Intensifies

Shillong, Meghalaya: The high-profile murder case of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi has taken a dramatic turn with his sister-in-law, Kiran Raghuvanshi, publicly demanding the harshest possible punishment for Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is currently under investigation in connection with the crime. Kiran’s emotional appeal for Sonam to be “hanged at the earliest” underscores the family’s deep grief and unwavering pursuit of justice.

Speaking to reporters, Kiran Raghuvanshi shed light on Sonam’s peculiar mobile phone habits, noting that Sonam always had two phones, one for official and one for personal use. Despite not frequently conversing aloud, Sonam was constantly messaging and never parted with her devices, raising suspicions about her digital activities. Kiran dismissed an apology from Sonam’s brother, Govind, who reportedly stated his sister should be hanged if guilty, asserting that the family seeks only justice, not apologies.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, identified as the prime accused, is currently in Shillong under a three-day transit remand with Meghalaya Police. Her presence at the murder scene was reportedly confessed by the four other accused, significantly escalating the gravity of the case. She was taken for a routine medical examination at Ganesh Das Hospital earlier this morning.

Meanwhile, the other four accused — Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand — were brought to Guwahati airport by Shillong Police after a seven-day transit remand was secured for further investigation. They are expected to be produced before a court in Shillong, where police will seek extended remand for continued questioning.

Police sources indicate that Sonam is being thoroughly questioned about her movements, particularly whether she travelled from Indore to Ghazipur before being located near a roadside eatery on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway. In a crucial development for the investigation, police have also seized clothes reportedly worn by Vishal Singh Chauhan on the day of the alleged murder, which will now undergo forensic examination.
