Meghalaya: HITO Alleges Misinformation Campaign by NPP Workers Regarding PMAY-G

Shillong: Meghalaya’s Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) has accused workers of the National People’s Party (NPP) and its affiliates in the West Jaintia Hills district of spreading misinformation about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme.

In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, B.D.R. Tiwari, HITO expressed deep concern over claims circulating within communities that PMAY-G implementation requires prior approval from local MLAs.

This, HITO asserts, is a deliberate misrepresentation of the scheme, which is a centrally funded initiative independent of MLA interference.

Such misinformation, HITO warns, can severely erode public trust in government programs and negatively impact beneficiaries who rely on these schemes for housing.

HITO has urged authorities to investigate and take action against those disseminating these false claims, emphasizing the need to protect the integrity of the electoral process and the rights of the people of Meghalaya.
