Meghalaya Home Department Announces Major Reshuffle in Police Leadership

Shillong: The Meghalaya Home Department has implemented a significant reshuffle in senior police positions, appointing Vivek Syiem, IPS, as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) for East Khasi Hills District. Syiem succeeds Sylvester Nongtnger, IPS, in this prominent role.

Key appointments and promotions include:
• Goldenbert D. Kharwanlang: Named SP of the Anti-Terror Squad, Shillong.
• Jagpal Singh Dhanao: Appointed SP of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Shillong.
• Banraplang Jyrwa, MPS: Promoted to SP, Mawkyrwat, succeeding Goldenbert D. Kharwanlang.
• Dangsan Khyriem, MPS: Elevated to SP, Mairang, replacing Maxwell B. Syiem, IPS, who has now been assigned to the Infiltration Directorate.

This reshuffle highlights the government’s focus on streamlining police operations and enhancing leadership roles in critical areas like counter-terrorism, narcotics control, and district administration.
