Meghalaya: Indian Racing Festival Shifts Gears, Bringing Motorsport Thrills to Guwahati

Shillong: Having concluded a successful leg in Meghalaya, the “Indian Racing Festival – a carnival of Total Control” is set to ignite the passion for motorsport in Guwahati starting today, April 20th. The high-octane event, which captivated audiences in Laitkor, Meghalaya, will bring its unique blend of speed and skill to the new location before its final stop in Gangtok on April 22nd.

Meghalaya’s picturesque landscape at Laitkor provided an unforgettable setting for the racing extravaganza. The enthusiastic crowd and the stunning natural beauty combined to create an electrifying atmosphere for the motorsport showcase. Spectators were treated to a thrilling display of controlled power, featuring mesmerizing drifting performances by skilled drivers in powerful Lexus and BMW vehicles. Adding to the adrenaline rush were the breathtaking stunts executed on Superbikes, alongside impressive displays of precision driving by young karting talents maneuvering their Rotax Karts with remarkable speed and control.

The vibrant energy of the event was further amplified by a captivating traditional performance presented by students from Martin Luther Christian University. Their cultural showcase transformed the venue into a dynamic hub, attracting a diverse audience comprising young enthusiasts, dedicated motorsport aficionados, and thrill-seeking individuals.

The event in Meghalaya held at DGAR Cantonment was graced by the presence of Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, Director General Assam Rifles, who served as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Rosetta Mary Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, who attended as the guest of honour. The high-energy motorsport spectacle was a collaborative effort by JK Tyre, the Meghalaya Motorsport Society, and Assam Rifles (Laitkor).

Speaking at the Meghalaya event, Lt. Gen Vikas Lakhera, DG Assam Rifles, expressed his appreciation for the collaborative effort, stating, “Sports have a unique way of spreading joy and positivity, and Assam Rifles has long supported such initiatives in the region. The weather was on our side today, and I hope the spectators truly enjoy the display of driving skills and the thrill of motorsport.”

Echoing this sentiment, Hari Singh, Head of Operations – JK Tyre Motorsport, emphasized the significance of bringing the Indian Racing Festival to Meghalaya, describing it as “truly special”. He further commended the “crowd’s energy, region’s scenic beauty, and its cultural passion,” highlighting the unique elements that made the Meghalaya leg a resounding success. Now, Guwahati eagerly awaits the arrival of this thrilling motorsport carnival.
