Meghalaya: KSU Forces MPSC to Release Marks of Civil Service Preliminary Exam Candidates Amid Transparency Row

Northeast Desk, 9th August: In response to escalating protests led by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) has agreed to release the marks of all candidates who appeared for the Meghalaya Civil Service (Preliminary) examinations within 24 hours. The announcement was made on August 8 following a meeting between KSU President Lambokstarwell Marngar and MPSC Chairman PR Marwein.

Marngar stated that the MPSC will not only publish the marks but also release both the incorrect and corrected answer keys for the Preliminary exams, along with the correct answers. Additionally, the KSU secured a commitment from the MPSC to cancel the last notification, with the likelihood of roll number changes for candidates after their interviews.

Earlier in the day, the KSU had intensified their protests, burning an effigy of the MPSC outside its office. The effigy, marked with words like “corruption” and “nepotism,” symbolized the union’s outrage over what they allege is widespread malpractice within the commission. The KSU claims that the MPSC’s initial refusal to release the marks raised serious concerns about the transparency and integrity of the recruitment process.

The union’s actions reflect deep-seated frustration over the MPSC’s handling of the civil service exams, with Marngar emphasizing that the release of the marks is a crucial step towards restoring public trust in the commission.
