Meghalaya: Major Drug Bust in East Khasi Hills as Four Arrested with Heroin Concealed in Soap Boxes
Northeast Desk, 16th July: The East Khasi Hills anti-narcotic task force achieved a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking with a successful operation in the Fire Brigade area on July 13.
During the operation, law enforcement authorities arrested four individuals and seized a substantial quantity of heroin totaling 411.99 grams. The arrests included two women identified as Gracy Dawman (40) and Pholneilam Kipgen (34), along with two men, Khai Khaio Hao (62) and Plalcha Khongsai (31).
The heroin, cleverly concealed within 34 soap boxes, a common tactic used by drug traffickers to evade detection, was recovered during the raid. Additionally, law enforcement officials confiscated five mobile phones and two waist straps, which are expected to provide crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
A case has been registered at the Laitumkhrah Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, highlighting the authorities’ continued efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in the region.
