Meghalaya: Moderate Earthquake Hits East Jaintia Hills

Northeast Desk, August 14 — A moderate earthquake struck Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district on the morning of August 14, as reported by the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale, occurred at 10:55 a.m. local time.

The epicenter of the quake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers, with coordinates 25.23°N latitude and 92.42°E longitude.

While there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries, the tremor was felt by residents in the surrounding areas. Authorities are monitoring the situation to assess any potential impact.
