Shillong: The two-member inquiry committee appointed by the Ministry of Education to probe alleged administrative lapses at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has wrapped up its investigation.

The committee, headed by former UGC Chairman D P Singh and former Assam University VC Dilip Chandra Nath, is expected to submit its report by November 29.

During their visit, the committee meticulously listened to grievances from students, faculty, and staff members. Meanwhile, student protests continue, with demonstrators maintaining a sit-in demonstration. They have been vocal about their concerns regarding the administrative issues plaguing the institution.

Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh has also weighed in on the matter, urging the Central government to consult with the state government on key appointments, particularly the position of Vice-Chancellor. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a conducive academic environment at NEHU and the need for collaborative decision-making.
