Shillong: The North East Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), under the Ministry of AYUSH, marked a vibrant cultural milestone as it celebrated the first-ever ‘Neiah Rongali Bihu Sanmilan 2025’ at its Shillong campus with a day-long programme.
The event, filled with colours of Assamese tradition and culture, brought immense joy to the Assamese staff working at the institute and the larger Assamese community residing in Shillong.
The celebrations began at 9 am with the hoisting of the Bihu flag by Celebration Committee President Dr Vishnu Chaudhary, followed by his inaugural address. A tree plantation drive was conducted shortly after by Naiyah Director-in-Charge Dr Vijay Kumar, marking the institute’s commitment to environmental well-being alongside cultural celebration.
By afternoon, the campus buzzed with activities like painting competitions and sports events that engaged participants of all ages. The highlight of the day was the unveiling of the Bihu magazine “Bohagi”, in a cultural programme graced by several dignitaries from Shillong.
As evening descended, invited artists enthralled the audience with a grand musical concert, capturing the festive spirit of Bihu. The celebrations concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Celebration Committee General Secretary Himanta Bikash Bora, who lauded the collective effort behind the success of the event and expressed hope for continued support in future editions.
