Meghalaya: No Prasad inside Durga Puja Pandals
Guwahati: The Meghalaya government in a recent SOP stated that during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, there will be no allowance of people to consume prasad inside the pandals. Prasad to the devotees can only be given in packets and everyone connected to the Puja Committees will mandatorily be vaccinated.
The SOP added that sitting inside the pandals will be prohibited in order to avoid mass gatherings.
Citizens above the age of 64 years, people with comorbidities, children, and pregnant women are advised to stay at home. At the same time, citizens who have received both doses of the vaccine may be allowed to attend the functions.
The government has also instructed the puja organizers to ensure that there should be no large gatherings of devotees in the pandals. Idols should be in one frame and the maximum height of the statue of the goddess should be 5 feet.
The government further stated that only a few people can be present during the immersion of the idols.
