Meghalaya: Nongthymmai SC Secures First Victory with 3-0 Win Over Nongrim Hills SC in OC Blue Shillong Premier League
Shillong– Nongthymmai SC ended a prolonged winless streak with a resounding 3-0 victory over Nongrim Hills SC in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League at the SSA Stadium.
On an electrifying evening enhanced by Diwali celebrations, Nongthymmai clinched their first win of the season, putting an end to a seven-match losing run that dated back to SPL 2023.
The match’s opening goal came in the 40th minute when Michaelson Kurbah capitalized on a left-side cross, delivering a composed finish that gave Nongthymmai a crucial lead just before halftime. They continued to dominate in the second half, with Ronald Singh Shaikhom doubling the score in the 57th minute. Taking advantage of a through ball, Ronald skillfully maneuvered past Nongrim Hills’ goalkeeper, Urbanity Makhroh, for Nongthymmai’s second goal.
Momentum stayed with Nongthymmai as Ronald turned provider two minutes later, sprinting down the right flank to set up Istarbor Marngar, who made it 3-0. Despite holding a higher position in the table, Nongrim Hills struggled to break through Nongthymmai’s defense, with goalkeeper Roni Das securing a clean sheet for his side.
This win brings all 10 teams in the league to at least one victory, intensifying competition in the standings. Nongthymmai now joins four other clubs with three points each, heating up the battle for mid-table positions. They’ll aim to carry this winning momentum into their upcoming match against Laitkor SC on November 4 at 5:30 pm.
