Meghalaya: NPP Appoints Seven District Presidents for Khasi-Jaintia Hills Region, Enhances Preparations for Upcoming Elections

Northeast Desk, 30th November: The National People’s Party (NPP) has named seven new District Presidents for the Khasi-Jaintia Hills Region, as revealed by NPP Spokesperson H.M Shangpliang. The decision was reached during a meeting chaired by NPP’s state party president, Prestone Tynsong.

The newly appointed district presidents are Seiborlang Shadap for East Jaintia Hills District, Octomewat Lamin for West Jaintia Hills, Teibor Pathaw for Shillong City, Macmilan Byrsat for West Khasi Hills, Biolinda Nonglait for Eastern West Khasi Hills, Clement Mawlong for Ri-bhoi District, and Gavin Mylliemngap for East Khasi Hills District.

Seiborlang Shadap, the president of the East Jaintia Hills District, Octomewat Lamin, the president of the West Jaintia Hills District, Teibor Pathaw, the president of Shillong City, Macmilan Byrsat, the president of the West Khasi Hills District, Biolinda Nonglait, the president of the Eastern West Khasi Hills District, Clement Mawlong, the president of the Ri-bhoi District, and Gavin Mylliemngap, the president of the East Khasi Hills District were all recently appointed.

He mentioned that the remaining districts of the Garo Hills would receive their appointment letters in the coming days by the state president in consultation with the working president in-charge of Garo Hills.

Shangpliang emphasized that the newly appointed presidents should form district committees and involve existing members actively. Block-level committees, crucial for grassroots access, will be formed quickly after the district committees.

The state president urged the recently elected district presidents to submit their proposals by December 20. A state-level committee, with representatives from each district, will present proposals and reports to the national president, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.

Shangpliang highlighted the NPP’s extensive preparation for the upcoming MP and MDC elections, aiming to strengthen the party from grassroots to the top.
