Meghalaya: NPP Pays Tribute to P.A. Sangma on His 77th Birth Anniversary

Northeast Desk, 1st September: On September 1, members of the National People’s Party (NPP), led by Vice President Agatha Sangma, paid floral tributes to Purno Agitok Sangma, the 4th Chief Minister of Meghalaya, on the occasion of his 77th birth anniversary. The gathering took place at the Central Hall of Parliament, where party members honored the legacy of the NPP founder and co-founder of the Nationalist Congress Party.

In a message shared on X, the party reflected on P.A. Sangma’s enduring impact, stating, “Today, we honour his legacy and celebrate the life of a visionary leader whose dedication and love for the people continue to inspire our journey forward. His dreams for a better tomorrow live on through the work of the National People’s Party.”

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also took to X to express his deep admiration for his father, P.A. Sangma. He wrote, “Baba, you are always missed, but as your son, I recall every word of wisdom you shared with me. Today, as I dedicate myself to the people, your vision guides me to take our state to greater heights.”

P.A. Sangma, who served as the former Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the first Padma Vibhushan awardee from Meghalaya, remains a pivotal figure in the state’s political landscape. His contributions continue to inspire leaders and citizens alike in their pursuit of progress and development for Meghalaya.
