Meghalaya: Petrol Bomb Attack Targets Government Vehicle in Shillong’s Cleve Colony

Northeast Desk, 3rd May: Shillong’s peace is once again shattered as a spate of petrol bomb attacks continues to plague the city, with the latest incident targeting a government vehicle belonging to the Directorate of Water Resources. The attack, which occurred on the night of May 2 at Cleve colony, saw miscreants setting ablaze the vehicle bearing registration number ML01 A 0175.

The vehicle, parked within the premises of the Directorate of Water Resources, fell victim to flames as assailants allegedly hurled a petrol bomb from outside, resulting in its complete destruction.

Authorities are alarmed by the recurring pattern of these attacks, particularly targeting government vehicles in areas lacking CCTV coverage. Police investigations are underway, with officials actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for the act of arson.

This recent assault adds to a string of similar incidents earlier in the week, including an attack on the Mawlai camp of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) by unidentified perpetrators using petrol bombs on the night of May 1. As the city grapples with escalating violence, residents remain on edge, hoping for swift action to restore peace and security.
