Meghalaya Police Arrest Five in Connection with Petrol Bomb Attack on JN Bawri Bust in Dhankheti

Northeast Desk, 12th August: Meghalaya police have arrested five individuals in connection with the attack on the bust of JN Bawri in Dhankheti, which occurred early on August 11. The incident took place around 4 a.m. when the assailants hurled a petrol bomb at the statue, prompting swift action from law enforcement.

According to a police official, a case has been registered at the Laitumkhrah police station, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the motive and the extent of involvement of those arrested. Fortunately, the statue itself did not sustain significant damage.

Following the initial attack, the perpetrators reportedly targeted a nearby ATM booth, pelting it with stones and causing further damage. Local authorities were immediately alerted, and a forensic team, along with law enforcement officers, arrived at the scene to begin their investigation.

The police are continuing to probe the incident, and more details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
