Meghalaya: Police Arrest Suspect in Brutal Murder of Four Men in East Jaintia Hills

Northeast Desk, 12th July: Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the brutal murder of four men whose bodies were discovered in Umpleng on July 6. The arrest was announced on July 11, five days after the grisly find sent shockwaves through the community.

The case, registered under Khliehriat Police Station with case number 49(07)2024 u/s 103/3(5) BNS, remains under active investigation. Authorities have chosen to withhold the suspect’s identity to maintain the integrity of the ongoing inquiry.

The bodies, found by labourers in a secluded area behind the Umpleng market, displayed signs of extreme violence. All four male victims had their hands bound, and one victim had suffered particularly severe injuries, with his head nearly severed.

Law enforcement officials are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in this heinous crime. The community remains on edge as the investigation progresses.
