Meghalaya Police Dismantles Drug Trafficking Ring, Heroin Worth Rs 1 Crore Seized
Northeast Desk, 7th April: Meghalaya’s Director General of Police (DGP), L R Bishnoi, has applauded the East Khasi Hills police for their successful operation in busting a drug trafficking gang in Shillong. During the operation, authorities apprehended four traffickers and confiscated a significant quantity of heroin valued at Rs 1 crore, along with Rs 45,000 in cash.
Expressing concern over the grave threat posed by drug trafficking, particularly to the youth, the DGP condemned the efforts of the drug mafia to trap them in addiction. He praised the prompt action taken by the police to thwart these criminal activities and assured continued efforts to disrupt the drug supply chain.
The operation conducted by the East Khasi Hills police signifies a notable triumph in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Meghalaya. Investigations are currently underway to dismantle the entire supply network, aiming to weaken the drug mafia’s influence in the region.
The seizure of heroin worth Rs 1 crore highlights the alarming scale of the illicit drug trade in the state, prompting authorities to escalate their efforts to eradicate this menace from society.
