Meghalaya Police Nabs Seventh Accused in Indore Businessman’s Murder Case

Shillong, June 22: The intricate web surrounding the brutal murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi continues to unravel, with the Meghalaya Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) making a crucial arrest in Madhya Pradesh. A security guard, identified as Balla Ahirwar, was apprehended early on Sunday morning, bringing the total number of arrests in the high-profile case to seven.

This latest development follows the arrest of property dealer Silome James on Saturday evening. James was nabbed near the Bhonrasa toll-gate in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas district while allegedly attempting to flee to Bhopal. East Khasi Hills district SP Vivek Syiem informed PTI that James had leased a property in Indore’s Heera Bagh Colony, where Raghuvanshi’s wife, Sonam, is believed to have hidden jewellery and other belongings after the incident. Ahirwar, the security guard, was subsequently traced and arrested from his village around 2 am on Sunday, having been posted at the aforementioned property. Both individuals are slated to be presented before a court in Indore, where the Meghalaya Police will seek transit remand to bring them to Shillong for further interrogation.

The chilling case began on May 23, when Raja Raghuvanshi was reported missing. His mutilated remains were discovered on June 2, deep within a gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district, sending shockwaves across both states. The spotlight quickly turned to Raghuvanshi’s wife, Sonam, who is accused of conspiring with her alleged lover in the heinous crime. She surrendered to police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district on June 8. Prior to these latest arrests, four other accused individuals had been apprehended from various locations in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, as the Meghalaya Police diligently piece together the sequence of events leading to Raghuvanshi’s tragic end.
