Meghalaya Police Recover Pistol Linked to Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case in Indore

Shillong: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police probing the high-profile murder of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi recovered a country-made pistol with two magazines from a stream in the Palasia area of Indore on Wednesday, officials confirmed.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem told PTI that the weapon was found during a search operation based on leads gathered during interrogation. “We have recovered a country-made pistol with two magazines… from a stream in Indore,” Syiem stated, adding that earlier, ₹50,000 in cash had also been seized from a box hidden inside a car in the city.

An officer from Indore Police said the weapon is believed to have disappeared along with other incriminating items from a flat where Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of the deceased and the prime accused, had stayed for several days after fleeing Meghalaya post-murder.

Sonam, along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three of his associates—Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—has been arrested for conspiring to murder Raja Raghuvanshi. The businessman had gone missing on May 23 during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, shortly after marrying Sonam on May 11. His mutilated body was discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge in the Sohra area of East Khasi Hills district.

“The recovery of the firearm and ammunition confirms our suspicion about the kind of planning that went into this murder. We are piecing together every bit of evidence as we build a watertight case,” SP Syiem said.
