Northeast Desk, 15th May: The East Khasi Hills police are set to file charge sheets against five individuals arrested in connection with three murder cases that occurred in Ichamati, Dalda, and Mawlai Mawroh. Superintendent of Police Rituraj Ravi confirmed the expedited efforts to complete investigations and file the charge sheets within the stipulated timeframe.
Four suspects were arrested in connection with the Ichamati and Dalda murders, while one individual was detained for the Mawlai Mawroh murder case.
In a related development, the police are challenging a district court’s decision to grant bail to a juvenile allegedly involved in the gang rape of a woman in Shillong. The East Khasi Hills SP stated that the district council court granted bail to the juvenile, one of four accused in the case.
“We are challenging the merits of the district council court’s order. Since the matter is subjudice, I will refrain from further comments,” SP Rituraj Ravi told reporters on Tuesday.
Three suspects have been arrested in the gang rape case. The SP mentioned that the case involving the juvenile, who was a minor at the time of the incident last year, is currently pending before the High Court. “We have registered the case, and the investigation is ongoing,” he added.
