Guwahati: The newly formed Voice of the People Party in Meghalaya has denounced all regional parties for their “betrayal” during the recently completed Assembly elections 2023.
The party plans to seize control on its own after five years .
The VPP’s president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit stated on March 18 that the party’s objective was to win an absolute majority and establish its own government in 2028. He also criticised other regional parties for “betraying their constituents” by joining MDA 2.0.
The party has succeeded in giving the populace hope. As the recent local meetings have flopped people are considering a party as an elective voice, Basaiawmoit stated while tending to the ‘Appreciation Rally’ organised by the party at Polo Ground here.
He said that this time the provincial assemblies had the opportunity to oversee the government.
“We were unable to shape the public authority since we were deceived by the provincial gatherings. As a result, we made the decision to join the opposition,” he stated.
He claimed that they hadn’t come for individual additions and that the party couldn’t achieve its goal of influencing public opinion on its own in 2028 by making any irrational decisions.
“I need to guarantee that we won’t deceive the confidence that individuals host rested on the gathering,” he said.
Basaiawmoit stated that a lot of people had predicted that the party would only win one or one seat in the recent Assembly elections.
