Meghalaya Polls 2023: NPP Candidate Rocky Hek Files His Nomination to Challenge Ex Minister Al Hek

Guwahati: The candidate of National People’s Party Rocky Hek  submitted his nomination on Wednesday, February 1. Al Hek, a current BJP MLA and former cabinet member would be Rocky Hek’s opponent.

The head of the National People’s Party (NPP) Ampareen Lyngdoh submitted his paperwork for the 2019 Assembly elections on January 31.

The first contender to submit her nomination was Ampareen.

Former Congress supporter Lyngdoh who recently switched to the NPP is running for the East Shillong Legislative Assembly.

It is important to note that she had won the East Shillong Legislative Assembly Constituency in 2018 as a candidate for the Congress party.

The NPP candidate from Nongthymmai Dr. Jasmine Lyngdoh and the sister of Ampareen Lyngdoh filed her papers today to run in the elections for the first time.

Three of the NPP’s candidates, Ampareen Lyngdoh of East Shillong, Teiborlang Pathaw of Mawlai and Thomas Sangma of North Tura had their criminal histories made public earlier this month.

According to the law, the party will now need to do extensive voter outreach and provide justifications for why a candidate with a criminal history should be placed on the party ticket.
