Meghalaya: Rangdajied United FC Secures First Win of OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024
Shillong – Rangdajied United FC claimed their first victory in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League 2024, decisively defeating Ryntih FC 3-0 at SSA Stadium, Polo, yesterday evening.
The match began slowly, with both teams struggling to convert opportunities during a goalless first half. However, Rangdajied came alive in the final minutes, with Pasborlang Khonglikong scoring twice (78’, 90’+3) and Manbhakupar Iawphniaw netting another goal (88’) to seal the win and earn their first points of the season.
Historically, Ryntih has struggled to overcome Rangdajied in the Shillong Premier League, with Rangdajied now boasting five wins and one draw against them since the 2019 season. Both teams made significant changes to their starting lineups, resulting in a cautious opening as players adjusted to the match.
Pasborlang came close to scoring earlier in the match, hitting the woodwork before breaking the deadlock with a powerful long-range shot in the 78th minute, which slipped past substitute keeper Luckystar Lawai. Manbhakupar extended the lead with a deflected shot in the 88th minute, and Pasborlang capped off the victory with a composed finish during added time.
Looking ahead, Nongthymmai SC, currently at the bottom of the table, will face Nongrim Hills SC today at 5:30 pm.
