Meghalaya Secures Hosting Rights for 39th National Games in 2027

Shillong: Meghalaya Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri has confirmed that the state has received official approval to host the 39th National Games in 2027.

The decision comes after a successful meeting between Warjri and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, where the state’s proposal was greenlit.

The announcement marks a historic milestone for Meghalaya, as it gears up to welcome the country’s premier multi-sport event. Warjri emphasized that hosting the National Games will provide a significant boost to Meghalaya’s sports infrastructure and create new opportunities for young athletes in the state.

Warjri also took the opportunity to congratulate Meghalaya’s athletes for their outstanding performances at the ongoing National Championships in Uttarakhand, reinforcing the state’s growing reputation in the Indian sports arena.

As Meghalaya embarks on this ambitious journey, the government is expected to invest heavily in sports infrastructure, training programs, and logistical preparations, ensuring that the 39th National Games becomes a landmark event in the state’s sporting history.
