Meghalaya: Seng Khasi Laitkor Pyllun Concludes Golden Jubilee Celebration with Grand Finale

Shillong: The Seng Khasi Laitkor Pyllun on December 22nd marked the culmination of its Golden Jubilee Celebration with a grand event at Madan Laitkor Pyllun.

Initially scheduled for May 28th, 2024, the celebration was postponed to December due to unforeseen circumstances.

The final day witnessed a gathering of members from various Seng Khasi branches in the region, fostering an atmosphere of unity and cultural pride. Rgh PD Nonrum, Vice President of Seng Khasi Kmie, Shillong, and Rgh T Mylliemngap, Vice President of Seng Khasi Laitkor, addressed the gathering, with the latter providing a captivating account of the organization’s oral history, tracing its journey over the past fifty years.

As part of the festivities, a commemorative souvenir was unveiled, showcasing the accomplishments and legacy of Seng Khasi Laitkor Pyllun. The event also announced the winners of U Rangkynsai and Ka Theijanai competitions, followed by a captivating pageant showcasing the elegance of traditional Khasi attire.

The year-long jubilee celebrations encompassed a diverse range of programs aimed at honoring and safeguarding Khasi traditions. Activities spanned workshops on traditional Khasi musical instruments and Jingsneng Tymmen teachings for the youth, to captivating displays of traditional costumes and jewelry. The crafting of Shanduwa and bamboo biers (krong) further exemplified the rich tapestry of the region’s cultural heritage.

The event concluded with a vibrant showcase of cultural performances, reaffirming the Seng Khasi Laitkor Pyllun’s unwavering commitment to preserving and celebrating Khasi traditions for generations to come.
