Northeast Desk, 12th March: Senior advocate Fenela L Nonglait is poised to secure a ticket from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, as per reports emerging on March 12.
Nonglait, who had expressed aspirations for a BJP ticket, had previously declared on January 15 that she would abstain from contesting if not awarded the party ticket.
During an interaction with reporters on January 15, Nonglait articulated her reluctance to contest as an independent candidate, emphasizing her desire not to waste the public’s mandate.
Ahead of the party’s decision on ticket allocation, Nonglait had planned to engage with constituents in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region to elucidate her stance, recognizing the anticipated duration for the party’s deliberations.
