Meghalaya: Shillong Cricket Academy Clinches Second Victory in U-19 Cricket Meet
Guwahati witnessed a compelling encounter at the NFRSA Cricket Ground on April 15th as the Shillong Cricket Academy (SCA) demonstrated their prowess in the 10th Sitaram Chhawchharia Memorial U-19 Cricket Meet. The SCA team successfully chased down the target set by Goalpara Cricket Academy, securing a convincing six-wicket victory with a comfortable 6.3 overs remaining in the match organised by Bud Cricket Club.
Earlier in the day, Goalpara Cricket Academy had won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their innings concluded at 239 runs all out in 49.5 overs. Asjad emerged as the highest scorer for Goalpara, contributing a resilient 73 runs off 98 deliveries.
The bowling attack of Shillong Cricket Academy proved to be formidable, spearheaded by an exceptional performance from Ashish Kumar Lohar. Lohar dismantled the Goalpara batting lineup, claiming an impressive six wickets for just 25 runs in his 9.5 overs. He received valuable support from Shushant Das, who picked up two wickets for 41 runs in his full quota of 10 overs. Angkit Tamang and Mewankitbok Kharpuri also chipped in with a wicket each, further restricting the opposition’s score.
In their chase, the Shillong Cricket Academy exhibited a collective batting effort to reach the target. Rudra Singh Rathore anchored the innings with an unbeaten 64 runs off 70 balls, providing stability and guiding his team to victory. Crucial contributions also came from Krishiv Chaudhary, who scored a valuable 42 runs, Shubham Rasaily with 30 runs, and Aditya Singh, who added a significant 49 runs to the scoreboard.
For his remarkable bowling performance that significantly impacted the match’s outcome, Ashish Kumar Lohar of Shillong Cricket Academy was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match title. This victory marks the second win for the Shillong Cricket Academy in the tournament, highlighting their strong contention in the U-19 cricket meet.
