Meghalaya Shines in Aadhaar Services, Wins Two National Awards
Shillong: Meghalaya has taken a significant leap in Aadhaar-related services, bagging two prestigious national awards from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The awards were presented at the Aadhaar Samvaad 2025 event held at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre in New Delhi on April 8.
The state excelled in two categories: ‘Best Performing State in Mandatory Biometric Updates of Children’ and ‘Verification of Adult Aadhaar Enrolment’. According to the UIDAI rankings, Meghalaya secured second place in Mandatory Biometric Updates and third place in Verification of Adult Aadhaar Enrolment. These recognitions underscore the state’s dedication to providing inclusive, secure, and efficient Aadhaar services to its citizens .
Shai Kupar War, Nodal Officer (Aadhaar) from the General Administration Department (GAD), received the awards on behalf of the state. Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma extended his congratulations to the team, acknowledging their unwavering commitment and hard work. “These recognitions reflect the unwavering commitment and hard work of our team in delivering inclusive and reliable Aadhaar services across the state. Heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved,” he said.
The UIDAI commended the dedication and tireless efforts of the Aadhaar teams at the state, district, and block levels. The authority also acknowledged the crucial support provided by the UIDAI Regional Office in Guwahati, which played a significant role in Meghalaya’s success.
