Meghalaya Speaker and Deputy Speaker Attend 10th CPA India Region Conference in New Delhi
Northeast Desk, 25th September: Meghalaya Speaker Thomas A. Sangma and Deputy Speaker Timothy D. Shira took part in the 10th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Conference held in New Delhi. The conference focused on the critical role of legislative bodies in driving sustainable and inclusive development.
During the event, Sangma underscored the importance of such forums for legislators, noting that they offer valuable insights into the often intricate processes of parliamentary governance. He shared that this was his third time attending the CPA conference, and the experience had greatly enhanced his ability to manage legislative affairs in the Meghalaya Assembly.
The conference also addressed the challenges that legislative bodies face in fostering development while ensuring inclusivity. It provided a platform for parliamentarians from across the region to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore solutions for improving governance.
