Meghalaya SSA Non-Teaching Staff to Begin Indefinite Sit-In Protest Over Salary Hike

Northeast Desk, 26th July: Frustrated by the government’s unfulfilled promises, the All Meghalaya SSA Non-Teaching Staffs Association (AMSSANTSA) has announced an indefinite sit-in demonstration starting July 29. The protest comes in response to the prolonged delay in salary enhancement, which has been pending since 2016.

The association expressed its dissatisfaction with Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma, who had informed the State Assembly in 2023 that the proposal for salary hikes had been forwarded to the finance department. Despite this assurance, no further action has been taken.

AMSSANTSA members view this inaction as evidence of the government’s false promises and are resolute in their decision to protest until their salary demands are met. The association emphasized their readiness to fight for their rights, underscoring that the demonstration will continue indefinitely until the government fulfills its commitment.
