Meghalaya: Suspected IED blast at Syndicate Stand near Them Mator In Shillong, probe on
Northeast Desk, 10th March: The Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Khasi Hills, Rituraj Ravi, has confirmed a blast near the Syndicate Bus Stand, close to Them Mator (Harijan Colony), in Ïewmawlong, Shillong, on Saturday evening.
According to reports from the SP, the blast occurred around 10:30 PM in a small abandoned house. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported as a result of the explosion. However, there has been some damage to the tin structure of the house and a few nearby window panes.
While the exact extent of the damages is still being assessed, initial investigations suggest that the blast was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), as stated by the SP.
Authorities have launched further inquiries and investigations into the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the blast and to identify any individuals or groups responsible. Additional details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
