Meghalaya Tourist Guide Claims Honeymoon Couple Was Accompanied by Three Men
Shillong: A tourist guide has come forward claiming that the honeymoon couple from Indore, who went missing in Meghalaya’s Sohra, was accompanied by three men on the day they disappeared. According to Albert Pde, a guide at Mawlakhiat, he saw the couple with three male tourists climbing over 3,000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiat on May 23.
Pde stated that he had offered his services to the couple on the previous day, but they had politely refused and hired another guide. He claimed that the four men were walking ahead, conversing in Hindi, while the woman was behind. By the time Pde reached Mawlakhiat, the couple’s scooter was no longer there.
The police have confirmed that Pde has provided this information to them. The couple’s rented scooter was later found at Sohrarim, several kilometres from the parking lot at Mawlakhiat, with the keys still latched to it.
Meanwhile, the search for Sonam, the missing woman, continues, with her brother accusing the state government of not doing enough. The government has assured that they are leaving “no stone unturned” to find her.
The investigation is ongoing, with a special team probing the matter. The search operation is being hampered by the terrain, heavy rainfall, and foggy weather conditions. The authorities are using gadgets, trained dogs, and drones to aid in the search.
The decomposed body of Raja, Sonam’s husband, was found in a gorge near Weisawdong falls on June 2, with a gold ring and neck chain missing. A bloodstained machete was later discovered nearby, and a raincoat similar to the one used by the couple was found in Mawkma village.
