Meghalaya: Two Arrested in Connection with Shillong IED Blast
Northeast Desk, 11th March: Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the IED blast at Syndicate bus stand, Punjabi Lane in Shillong, Meghalaya, on March 9, which resulted in one person being injured.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ebakordor Nongpluh (26) and Tarson Lymba (58), both residents of West Jaintia Hills district.
The duo was apprehended from Shillong and Dawki yesterday night. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
Meghalaya Police had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for credible information leading to the arrest of individuals involved in the blast.
The explosion occurred at City Bus syndicate next to Punjabi Lane at Mawlonghat around 10.30 pm on Saturday, resulting in one person sustaining injuries.
The SP East Khasi Hills confirmed that a crude IED detonated in an abandoned structure at Punjabi Lane, in Mawlonghat area, caused the blast on Saturday night.
The IED, suspected to have been made with gelatin sticks, was placed inside a metal container.
The blast was confined to the CGI sheet structure while causing damages to the glass windows of adjacent buildings, as informed by the East Khasi Hills SP.
