Meghalaya: Wealth and Legal Disclosures of Shillong Lok Sabha Candidates Vincent H. Pala

Northeast Desk, 27th March: Vincent H. Pala, the incumbent Lok Sabha member and Congress candidate from Shillong, stands out as one of the wealthiest politicians in the state, with declared assets exceeding Rs 100 crore. As the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president, Pala, along with his spouse, has declared movable assets worth Rs 1,59,27,412 and Rs 91,50,217, respectively. These assets include multiple vehicles and plots of non-agricultural land.

In contrast, Shillong’s Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) candidate, Robertjune Kharjahrin, faces a pending criminal case under Section 102 of the Meghalaya Police Act of 2010. Kharjahrin’s immovable assets are valued at Rs 19,264,94, with a total current market value of Rs 50,00,000 for his properties.

Agatha Sangma, the NPP candidate and current MP from Tura, has movable assets valued at Rs 52,78,453. Despite not owning a vehicle, Sangma possesses land and commercial buildings.

Saleng Sangma, Sangma’s Congress rival, boasts movable assets worth Rs 1,80,49,264 and owns four vehicles and two guns. Additionally, he possesses non-agricultural land and residential buildings valued at Rs 2,20,00,000.

These disclosures provide voters with valuable insights into the financial standings and legal backgrounds of the candidates vying for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, aiding them in making informed decisions during the upcoming elections.
