Meghalayan Age Limited to Bolster Local Content on “Hello Meghalaya” Streaming Platform, Supporting Regional Filmmakers
Shillong— Meghalayan Age Limited has unveiled plans to launch exclusive films and web series on its streaming platform, Hello Meghalaya, along with funding support for local filmmakers.
This initiative is set to amplify the platform’s original content offerings and nurture the state’s creative industry.
The Chief Administrative Officer of Meghalayan Age Limited shared that active discussions are underway with local filmmakers to bring high-quality, original programming to the service.
Since its debut in July, Hello Meghalaya has already amassed over 37 million total views, fueled by strong local interest and community engagement.
The platform reports more than 200,000 downloads and a robust user base, with viewers averaging 4 hours and 30 minutes on the app.
Approximately 2,000 active users access the service every half hour, making it a popular source of entertainment and cultural content across Meghalaya.
Local films such as Ka Chithi, Pynngop, and Ka-Daw have each surpassed the milestone of one million views, reinforcing the demand for regional storytelling.
However, some critics have pointed to Hello Meghalaya’s reliance on previously available films and series. In response, the platform is not only creating original productions but is also in the final stages of rolling out a new analytics dashboard, enabling content creators to track viewership metrics and engagement in real time.
The platform recently broadened its offerings to include live events, successfully streaming the Durand Cup and the Sohra Half Marathon, reaching over 1,000 concurrent viewers. Plans are in place to bring musical events and other cultural showcases to rural audiences, aligning with the platform’s commitment to reach diverse and remote areas.
With new productions typically taking 3-6 months to complete, Hello Meghalaya will continue to add fresh content weekly while addressing user feedback regarding streaming quality and data usage.
