Meghalaya’s Doramontie Nelleman Shines at the 2024 New York City Marathon

Tura, Meghalaya – Doramontie Rangsa Nelleman, hailing from Tura in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, proudly represented her hometown at the prestigious 2024 New York City Marathon on November 3.

Wearing a tag that read, “Small Town Girl from Tura,” Nelleman showcased her journey and determination on one of the world’s most celebrated athletic stages.

The event, which marks its 53rd edition this year, saw an overwhelming participation of over 165,000 athletes, making it the second-highest turnout in the marathon’s history, according to the New York City Road Runners.

Expressing their pride, the office of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma shared a heartfelt message on social media, commending Nelleman’s representation of Tura and the state on an international platform.

The post stated, “We are so proud to see Doramontie Nelleman from Tura participate in the New York City Marathon 2024! Doramontie wears her ‘Small Town Girl from Tura’ tag with pride and followed her passion all the way to New York. We send our best wishes to her!”
