Meghalaya’s First Woman DGP Idashisha Nongrang to Hold Weekly Public Interactive Sessions

Northeast Desk, 22nd May: The newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya, Idashisha Nongrang, has announced the initiation of weekly interactive sessions with the public. Starting from May 30, 2024, these sessions will be held every Thursday between 11 am and 2 pm at the state DGP office.

In a public notice, the DGP outlined her commitment to strengthening the bond between the police and the community. “The Director General of Police, Meghalaya, is pleased to announce that, effective from May 30, 2024, the DGP will be available to meet the public to address any pertinent issues or grievances,” the notice read.

The notice also encouraged citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss their concerns directly with DGP Nongrang. Interested individuals can register their names at the Police Headquarters Gate between 10 am and 11:45 am on the day of the session.

Idashisha Nongrang, a 1992 batch IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, officially took charge as the DGP on May 20, 2024, marking a historic moment as the first woman to hold this position. She has outlined her priorities for her tenure, focusing on law and order, crime prevention, and combating crimes against women.
